Brightshores Health System (formerly Grey Bruce Health Services) is a regional healthcare network serving communities across southwestern Ontario, operating multiple hospitals and care facilities to deliver accessible, community-based care. Its Foundation supports critical health initiatives, capital projects, and the advancement of patient services through donor engagement and strategic fundraising.
SALT + COMPANY was engaged to support the organization during a pivotal phase of growth and transformation — helping the leadership team and five hospital foundations develop a unified fundraising and donor-relations strategy.
Our work began with a comprehensive discovery process, including key informant interviews with internal stakeholders, board members, and major donors. Through this research, SALT identified opportunities to align fundraising approaches, strengthen governance, and modernize donor management practices across the system.
We delivered a detailed Report of Recommendations outlining practical steps to enhance collaboration, streamline fundraising systems, and guide future purchasing and investment decisions — including tools to improve healthcare fundraising efficiency and transparency.
By combining qualitative insight with operational strategy, SALT helped Brightshores’ Foundation network build a stronger, more coordinated approach to philanthropy — ensuring sustainable donor relationships and more impactful community outcomes across all five hospitals.
